Welcome to the Web page of District 7's ACBL Board member |
Bob Heller was elected District Director in the fall of 2009 to a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2010. There are 25 District Directors who make up the ACBL Board, which meets the four days prior to each of the year's three North American Bridge Championships. The board is responsible for league policies and governance, including everything from bid boxes, alerts and tournament approval to the functioning of ACBL headquarters. One of the major challenges in 2011 is the selection of a new CEO; Jay Baum is retiring effective June 30, 2012. |
Bob, a Milwaukee native and Duke University graduate, has been a member of Georgia Unit 114 since 1985 and lives in Decatur. He learned duplicate in Charlotte and joined the ACBL in 1980. He is a former District 7 and Mid-Atlantic president. In addition to District Director, Bob is editor of the District 7 News; District 7 tournament coordinator; and Mid-Atlantic advertisting and publicity coordinator. |
His theme is "openness and communication," and toward that end, Bob hopes that this Web page will quickly be adopted by the members of District 7. Contact him at hellerb@mindspring.com. |
